Mr. Adam J. Copp joined the Selective Service System as the Associate Director for Operations

Adam CoppMr. Adam J. Copp joined the Selective Service System as the Associate Director for Operations during March 2016.  A career-member of the Senior Executive Service, he is responsible for the development and implementation of agency plans, policies, programs, and operations designed to fulfill U.S. Armed Forces manpower requirements in the event of a national emergency and for the management of an alternate service program.  Additionally, Mr. Copp manages core processes in data management, information technology, registration compliance and verification, mobilization plans, and training.

Mr. Copp served for over 30 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring as colonel in 2015.  He has extensive leadership experience in operations management and strategic planning, having commanded Infantry and Force Reconnaissance organizations to include combat command.  He has broad plans and policy experience, having served with Service and Joint headquarters, with the Marine Barracks in Washington DC (8th and I), with the White House Military Office, as a Service Chief Aide-de-Camp, and in Executive Officer and Chief of Staff assignments with the Pacific and European Combatant Commands.

Mr. Copp has a B.A. degree from Jacksonville, University, FL; an M.A. from the Naval War College, Newport, RI; and was a Marine Corps Fellow with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Seminar XXI in Washington DC.
