Selective Service System and Peace Corps Leaders Discuss Their New Agreement and The Benefits Of Service With Tom Temin, The Host Of Federal News Network’s ‘The Federal Drive’ Podcast

Selective Service System Acting Director Joel C. Spangenberg and Peace Corps Director Carol Spahn recently joined Tom Temin, the host of Federal News Network’s ‘The Federal Drive’ podcast to talk about how the two agencies work to promote volunteerism and public service under their new agreement.

The Peace Corps and Selective Service System are working together to launch a series of data-driven public awareness campaigns through digital platforms, media, and outreach engagements to inform the American people about opportunities to join the Peace Corps and serve boldly in host communities in one of nearly 60 countries worldwide or serve in volunteer roles with the Selective Service System as a local board member in locations across the nation.  They will also partner to support Selective Service System’s Alternative Service Program, which would provide work in the national interest to conscientious objectors during a time of conscription.

This new partnership advances the bipartisan National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service’s recommendations. The two agencies are committed to building collaborative efforts between governmental partners to cultivate broader awareness of service and expand opportunities for Americans to serve.
