Statement by Acting Director Joel C. Spangenberg on Public Service Recognition Week, May 5-11, 2024

This week is designated as Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) in honor of the men and women who serve America as federal, state, county, and local government employees.

Our Agency proudly represents PSRW as one of the 83 federal agencies to sign this year’s Public Service Recognition Week co-chair letter!

“I am extremely proud of the work you all do to fulfill our agency’s mission and deliver a superior customer experience to the public.  Your work has a national impact and is meaningful.  Here are a few examples.  You provide outstanding support to customers through the call center and mail center, and through the Enterprise Content Management System, which is helping us provide streamlined service.  You collaborate with our interagency partners to support the military and other service opportunities and elevate our readiness at all times.  You take the initiative to modernize our IT systems, including through the Technology Modernization Fund, and by partnering with agencies that can further strengthen our security posture.  You make the employee experience better through improved onboarding processes and by making HR shared services a reality.  You elevate our management excellence and deliver impact in our finance, budgeting, contracting, operational support, legal, integration, and administrative programs.  The work you all do at SSS is making a positive difference!”

– Joel C. Spangenberg, Acting Director of Selective Service
