STATEMENT BY THE SELECTIVE SERVICE SYSTEM ON AN INAPPROPRIATE X REPOST ON REQUIRING MILITARY SERVICE

ROSSYLN, VA – Robert Kenny, Deputy Associate Director for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Selective Service System, released the following statement on the inappropriate X repost on November 6, 2024, concerning required military service that was reported in the news during the past two days:

“Yesterday, an inappropriate X post related to a mandatory draft was reposted on the Selective Service System’s X account. We are investigating this incident in coordination with X and appropriate federal law enforcement authorities. We are proactively implementing measures to prevent this from happening in the future and have reported the incident to the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency for review.

“The reposted content has since been deleted from the Agency’s X account. The content of the repost in no way reflects the views of the Selective Service System.”
